If you overheat your brakes and you find the pedal goes soft when you are driving on the track or on the road then you should change your brake fluid. The pedal has gone soft because the brake fluid has partially boiled. Once brake fluid has boiled it will never recover, it will never have the same positive feel as it did before. To regain a nice strong brake pedal the fluid needs to be changed for new fluid.

When changing fluid, to get the best result, all of the old fluid should be flushed out of the system. If the brake fluid is simply topped up on top of the old fluid the old fluid will contaminate the new fluid and you will not get the full benefit of having new brake fluid. It can take time to flush out the system of all the old brake fluid but it is worth the effort.

If it has been a year or two since your brake fluid was changed or if you feel your brake pedal does not feel as strong as it did when the car was new, you will probably feel a big improvement if you refresh your braking system with new brake fluid.
