DEI Form-A-Shield
Massive heat insulation
Ultra customisable to any shape you want
Incorporate chimneys to vents if you need
Massively cheaper than shields with similar insulation properties
We have been waiting for a heat like this for years!
Up until now you have had two choice to insulate your turbo
1. Aluminium based shields which are easy to form but are not insulated
externally
2. A turbo blanket.
Pluses and Minuses
Aluminium based heat shields - The good points with the aluminium shields is
that they can be bent easily to fit the shape of the part you are shielding. The
bad point is they are thin and which means their insulation properties are not
ideal.
Turbo Blankets. Turbo blankets are easy to install , they come in set sizes
which means you dont need to cut them. Just clip them to your turbo and your
done. The quality blankets also do an excellent job of containing heat.
Two problems with turbo blankets.
One is the price. Quality blankets which insulate well are expensive, much more
expensive than an aluminium shield.
And the second problem is peak temperatures. Rightly or wrongly some people do
not want to contain so much heat so close to their turbo i.e. right next to it.
They want to give their turbo some space to breathe
DEI Form-A-Shield combines the good points of these two types of heat shield
into one product and at the same time eliminates the negatives. In our opinion,
this product should have come a long time ago!
As I said earlier, the aluminium shields are easy to form but lack external
insulation. DEI Form-A-Shield addresses this issue. DEI For-A-Shield is just as
easy to form and has a layer of insulation, basalt fabric, which greatly
increase the insulation properties of the shield.
With regards to turbo blankets, you can mould the heat shield to the exact shape
you want and if you are worried about massive heat build up around the turbine,
you can form your own chimney into the heat shield to vent heat away from the
turbine. For example, mold a chimney into a bonnet vent.
Or simply cut a hole into the aluminium heat to enable some heat to escape under
peak temperature conditions.
You can even fabricate your heat shield so there is extra space around the
turbo/manifold. You can then mount the shield on your engine block for example,
so the shield does not directly touch the turbo/manifold, if this is what you
prefer.
All the while Form-A-Shield is massively cheaper than turbo blankets which has
the same insulation capacity.
Sure it takes a little extra work to fit a Form-A-Shield, but the flexibility
and adaptability is gives you to customise your own turbo heat shield is
unbeatable.
And not only turbos.
If you are looking for a quick and effective means of insulation your exhaust
manifold and you want to use something that looks more professional than a
simple blanket, again, Form-A-Shield has what you need.
And again, if you are worried about excessive heat build up inside your heat
shield, you can easily create a chimney or vent into the aluminium to vent of
heat when the temperatures get really high.
DEI Form-A-Shield give you massive flexibility, massive heat insulation and at
an extremely low price.
Sizes.
Maximum length is 50cm.
When you order more than one piece you will get multiples of 16cm width
For example. 2 Pieces, we will send you one piece, 50cm x 32cm
50 cm is enough to wrap a turbo of 16cm external diameter
16cm width is enough to cover a turbine of 8cm width with 4cm of coverage down
each side of the turbine.
